7 Reasons Why Gluten Is Bad For You (And Your Kids!)

wheat 200x300 7 Reasons Why Gluten Is Bad For You (And Your Kids!)Gluten is a protein molecule commonly found in grains like rye, wheat, and barley. It is found in almost every variety of bread, cereal, or grain. Most types of bread contain this protein. People who prefer to avoid gluten fall in two categories–either they’re allergic (this is known as Celiac disease) or because they believe it will lead to health problems. Problem is that so many people are allergic against gluten and they don´t even know it!
This is why we as The Rawfoodfamily have excluded gluten from our diet alltogether.
The easiest way to avoid the protein is to not eat foods that contain it, or to eat very little of them.

Why Gluten is bad for you:

1.      Gluten does even sound like glue for a reason – Gluten is mainly found in wheat products like bread. Have you noticed that when you put the bread in your mouth it acts like glue as you chew as its very sticky, Imagine what it’s doing to your stomach here and especially to your colon. It’s totally clogging up your colon, hinders a free flow in your gut where you could just extract food naturally, slowing down your digestive system, supports constipation and it sticks to your gut walls like glue so overall its quite dangerous for you.

2.      Gluten contains gut irritating lectins and mineral binding phytates – Gluten is binding up the minerals which you consume through other foods not of course from the bread that you’re eating. It binds them and prevents your body from absorbing and extracting it from the food to absorb it into your system so wheat in Gluten prevents the absorption of very important minerals for your body.

3.      Opioid peptides found in wheat- This is the drug which you would usually find in morphine & other really heavily addictive drugs and that’s why some people say if you try to stay away from bread as wheat and gluten is an heavily addictive substance which is not good and forces you to eat more than you usually would so this is highly dangerous for you.

4.      Gluten causes gut inflammation – 80% of people create antibodies against the protein that is extracted out of the gluten out of the wheat. So the overwhelming part of the population consuming wheat in Gluten is allergic to this. This weakens and slows down your immune system.

5.      Antibodies –  Your body is manifesting & creating antibodies against the gluten protein.  These are shown and proven to attack heart tissues which relates to heart diseases as it attacks your heart and causes many related problems.

6.      Gluten can support building cancer cells – Gluten has been strongly associated with creating cancer cells (especially with people suffering from celiac disease), many case studies prove that. So even if it’s not directly causing cancer it’s providing the foundation for cancer cells to build in your system which clogs up your system, demineralizing and just hindering your body from absorbing minerals in the best way. You weaken your immune system and you are more likely to generate cancer if  you eat a lot of pasta and bread every day.

Wheat Germ Agglutinin – This, when produced at an abnormal rate, demineralizes and causes Vitamin D stores to deplete abnormally fast leading to Vitamin D deficiency with accompaning issues like weakening of the bones, a weakened immune system and a vulnerability to infectious diseases and bacterial attacks.

  1. Gluten has also been associated with Schizophrenia as a possible cause or at least as a promoter of the disease. Schizophrenics often see their symptoms reduce a lot when wheat is removed from their diet.
  2. Since Gliadin, the main problem causing Gluten protein can be similar in structure to other proteins found in tissues of such organs such as the thyroid or the pancreas; antibodies against Gliadin can end up attacking those organs and ultimately cause autoimmune diseases like hypothyroidism and type 1 Diabetes.

I hope this article has helped answer the question, “Is gluten bad for you?”  But if you still aren’t sure then keep looking deeper into it. It’s hard for people to give up their favourite foods such as breads and pastas but they’re simply not good for you and they’re going to make you sick. Instead focus on eating a diet full of protein, vegetables, fruits and healthy essential fats. This is the way our bodies we’re made to eat and if we’re not following this path then we’re going the wrong way.
You will find some more tips and also more information why gluten is bad for you in the video below…

i don’t think you know what antibodies are dude.. med student here. (Bind to heart tissue!!) What a joke! There are a billion different combinations of antibodies; which one are you referring to?

Not even one source listed. This is bunk.

Having a sensitivity to gluten is one thing, but claiming gluten overall is bad for you is disingenuous Are all milk products bad for everyone because some people cannot process it and are lactose intolerant? no.

Also, be more mindful of facts. 1. Stomach acids break down the ‘sticky’ qualities of gluten before it clogs anything up. 2. False, lectins and phytates are not inside gluten. They may also be in bread products…. but they’re also in many many other foods. 3. Opioid peptides in gluten foods are only an issue if your body incompletely digests them. Don’t compare them with Heroin for an emotional response. Studies show at worst a response like endorphins when you eat sugary foods, or someone compliments you in public. 4. Your 80% number is wrong. There have been peer reviews publications and studies showing 10-15% of the population has these antibodies in some amount, even if small. 5. Again, small percentage of population. Even smaller population that has enough of an immune response to warrant heart tissue damage. 6. It doesn’t create a foundation for cancer. For those who have Celiac disease (not just gluten sensitivity) increased chance of cancer is one of a list of side effects to eating something their body cannot process. Bread doesn’t give you cancer any more than natural arsenic in an apple will kill you.

BUT, if you want to argue that a low-gluten diet is less processed in general, I’d agree. And if that makes a healthier diet, then go for it. But don’t scare people into thinking that bread is a cancer-causing Opiate blocking your intestines and killing your heart.

Can you provide us with any of your sources? I would love to look at the academic info on this. Thanks!

Ka Sundance, what gives you the right to speak as a medical expert? If you want to give your personal opions, so be it. But, please be clear that these are your personal opinions, and please distance yourself from making medical claims, which should only be reserverd for medical professionals with proper training in the matter.

    1. Gluten may sound like glue. But, it does not stick to the gut like glue. Once the bread “dough” has been cooked, it DOES NOT STICK!
    2. Is the amount of the minerals held back truly significant, and how does it compare with the amount of protein that is provided by gluten, in return?
    3. Mother’s milk contains small traces of opioids, too. Does that make milk “highly dangerous” for babies, as well? It is the quantity that matters, not the quality.
    4. Where did you come up with the “80% of people” from? Even though it is claimed that an overwhelming part of the population consuming wheat is allergic to gluten, please let me remind you that a high percentage of the people in the world use wheat as a staple food, in the form of breads, and noodles. (For their strength, many Asians laborers rely on wheat noodles, ON A DAILY BASIS.)
    5. When it is claimed that EVERY consumer’s body is manifesting & creating antibodies against the gluten protein, please provide citations, and please compare it with the amount of antibodies that the consumer’s body is “manifesting & creating” against other forms of protein. If not possible, please stay away from making PSEUDOSCIENTIFIC CLAIMS.
    6. ANY NUTRIENT can support building cancer cells. BIG DEAL!!!
    7. Besides the issue of quantity, what does “Wheat Germ Agglutinin” have to do with gluten?!

Last, but not the least, Italians have been eating wheat based products without any significant medical problems known from them so far, since literally before the beginning of time (since before the birth of Christ over 2000 years ago, to be exact). So, have the Chinese. Please let me mention that the Chinese alone, and their wheat noodle eating population, make up roughly 20% of the population of the planet. Not one word about this “Gluten Free” FAD has been mentioned in their modern medical literature. This is a FAD that was created by the meat industry, because they have been scared stiff of this strong competitor for their protein-containing animal products. For more clarification, just lookup “SEITAN”!!!

Where are your SOURCES?? “Gluten causes cancer” REALLY? How do you know that? This is BULLSHIT. Please stop claiming things without proper research and sources. It’s really giving other people that skim this link inaccurate ‘facts’ and may affect their lives….

  • clothos

Only those with Celiac Disease have any real cancer risk from consuming gluten and even then the risk is minimal. It really is quite telling that the author of this piece doesn’t include any links to actual scientific studies. Foods containing gluten, like most foods that humans put in their bodies, are highly unlikely to cause any health problem when eaten in moderation. Gluten, like every food you put in your body, can cause problems when eaten in excess. A small number of people will have discomfort when ingesting it, but hardly anyone will ever suffer much more. Research things people – notice there are no references to actual studies in this piece at all. Do your own research…

      I totally agree.
Eating gluten in very small amounts along with lots of fresh raw foods may not cause problems.
      Problem is:
Gluten is a very addictive substance.
Almost everybody I know is overeating on bread, pasta, pizza, etc. also as their is almost zero nutritional value to it.
Body wants more to get something out of it.
So, I still believe that this article is very valid.
Gluten and the overconsumption of it is unhealthy!

    sources?

    • Joe

Sources? What do you think this is, a reputable publication? Pfft

  • mmm

@ Terbo: The gluten wipes away all healthy flora, allowing bad flora to overpopulate the gut. This causes an acidic environment in your intestines. Acidity= very high chance of cancer

I’m really curious as to how it’s linked to cancer. For the life of me I cannot find anything that shows this link. Could you provide your sources for your information? It would be a great help.

    Ka and Family–

I love your kind manner and messages. I sometimes fall back on the gluten wagon so these notes are very helpful for me.

On another note, I am curious when you travel from country to country aren’t you required to have certain immunizations? I’d love to hear your take on travel and immunizations.

    Kind regards and Happy Holidays!

    • http://www.kasundance.com Ka Sundance

Nobody in our family has any vaccinations.
We travel tropical countries since 15 years and never had any problems. We do not believe in vaccinations at all.
      However:
This is our personal choice and we do NOT recommend following our example. This is only our personal choice!

Ka, It is good to see you agian. I totally agree with you about the gluten. I feel sure that I have a sensitivity to it. I get a bloaded feeling in my gut after eating some breads, and especially wheat breads, which I thought were a heathier pick over white breads. I am slowly changing the breads I eat and I feel a difference in my gut.
    So, how long in Thiland?
Be Well to you and family.
